Myself and my 3 friends play online. We are wondering if there is a way to hire a teacher who could observe us and teach us?

Your profile says you are a world class player. I am sorry I can hardly give you an advice in your class.

If you go to the ACBL website and click on “Learn”, you can search to find a teacher in your area.

Well, an online teacher could be from anywhere, but a local one might be better because you will learn the methods used in your area and be better prepared when bridge clubs open again.

I teach a number of groups of four on BBO. Since you already have four of you, that would seem to be ideal. Feel free to contact me via marc@bridge-teacher.com. Let me know more details and I will work out something that suits what you are looking for.

Hello. I've been teaching bridge both online groups and (before Covid) in person, with a great deal of success, and I'd be interested in talking with you and your group to see if we'd be a good fit for each other.

If you'd like, I'd be happy to sit with you for an hour at no charge as you played some hands and we discussed them in a safe, non-critical way.

My philosophy includes --
- The key areas of bridge are hand evaluation, defense, and declarer play, so those are what I focus on. You don't need a lot of conventions to play good bridge, and in fact, if you learn too many conventions too early, you may never learn how to evaluate your hand well. (learn a solid 2/1 system for duplicate players, or Standard American for social players)
- Our partners are trying their best -- they don't need us to criticize them about the last hand and distract them from the new hand in front of them. During a game, we don't discuss errors, but save the discussion for after the session.
- We're all here to have fun. To the extent you help your partner have fun, the better your game will be. To the extent that you make things pleasant for your opponents, the more choice of partners you'll have.

You can email me at PlayBridgeWithThomas@gmail.com or contact me here.

I, as an ACBL teacher, find that on-line "teaching" of this game is best done 1 on 1, as you both have the opportunity of reviewing auctions and card plays almost immediately, or can relax and review the entire session at your leisure. This allows for the student to see the issue, and to note ALL of the probable solutions to see which one is "best". On-line "group think" sessions aren't as valuable.

Hi there. Congratulations on having friends who would like to have a teacher work with you as a group! I am an experienced ACBL accredited teacher, and would welcome the opportunity to work with you. My focus is on having fun while learning to think about the nuances of each hand, especially as new information becomes available as the bidding and play progress. If interested to talk, please send me a message on BBO to tjtalent or you can email me at terry@fallschurchbridgeclub.com

Hi,I am interested in online learning for bridge. My play is not terrible, but I can't get my head around the bidding when it goes beyond a simple open and response. Can you give me more information regarding cost, time, etc.? Thanks, Vanya Martin vanya.d.martin@gmail.com

Join the BIL (Beginner/Intermediate Lounge) -- one of the oldest clubs right here on BBO.
Sign up for a mentor. Nicest people on BBO.

If you are already more advanced players, join the IAC (Intermediate/Advanced Club), too.

You won't regret either choice, guaranteed. Great folks, access to many wonderful teachers, lots of great, safe, and always friendly competition.
