Weird raise bidding with weird explanation

( I sat at south seat in fact.)


Today I encountered a weird hand, 5♣? What's the meanings of jump 5♣? Is it a preference or a ♣ suit raise? However 5♣ only says " 6+♦,10+TPs".
So I only followed its bidding and returned to 5♦. Even though I got a good contract, I don't understand such weird raise bidding with weird explanation.

It is, strangely, a splinter, and for some reason the explanation doesn't make that clear. This one has been reported before I think.
