I was wondering what people would consider to be the best approach to bid this hand, using a Standard-like approach? Do you overcall 2♣? Do you double and bid ♣ regardless of your partner's bid (unless it's hearts of course!)? Do you double and not do anything if your partner doesn't respond (and the opposition bid)? Do you approach it in another way?

Any opinions appreciated.

I prefer double

Double. If partner bids spades I'll cue bid diamonds next (showing extras and usually only three spades). If partner bids hearts I will raise (probably two levels). If opponents bid and partner passes it will depend on the auction; often I'm worth another call but it depends on the sequence.

Pass for now. Opps are in a forcing sequence. If the bidding dies at a low level you may get another chance.

I double with this one and bid 2♣ next most of the time especially at matchpoints. If partner had responded 1♠ or has length and runs to them later, landing in a major is where the money is.

Sorry for making the question clear initially but I wanted to know if double was clear and then what after that. I thought that a double then bidding 2 ♣ may require a better hand and/or a better suit - either a 6 carder or a few more points with a 5 carder (like closer to 19 points). Is that what is more standard or is the point count/ length requirements less for a double/bid own suit?
