IMPs, EW vul. Decent opps (in skill level, unfortunately not in bridge table mannerisms).

EW system is weak NT with 5cM, 1C = clubs or balanced, W decided to upgrade the hand to a strong NT. What should he do after the 2NT overcall? Can this be bid sensibly to 6C?

Relevant methods: X here = penalty interest of at least one suit; 1st and 2nd cues; 4NT RKCB (the only ace-ask), with responses 3041.

If south had interfered with 2H, we would play that double shows the strong NT hand, without a stop*. Maybe this is the best treatment in this auction? East will start to like his hand and support clubs (4C Minorwood, would work, but otherwise 4C forcing and initiating cue bids).

*I'm not a fan of Support Doubles in a weak NT context.

We wouldn't have this issue as we'd have started with 2 (opposite a 4 card club), so are already in a GF auction, and know we're either slamgoing if partner only has spades or have a club fit.

For us X is "ability to penalise one or both suits" also, and it's probably what I'd bid playing your system.
