Hello

I'm interested in developing a bidding system based on a Mini NT with "Nightmare" Multi 1C plus other Nightmare 1-level suit openings. ( 5CM of course!)

If you have considerable practical and theoretical experience of Mini NT and Nightmare - perhaps not combined in one system - and can push the pasteboards around OK - then perhaps we could get together for a few hands on OKB or BBO to see if we are reading from the same page and have the makings of a reasonable partnership.

Please send your ideas and thoughts on what lines the system could be developed.

I'm used to play mini NT in 1&2 seat all vulnerabilities, but I'm not sure what the Nightmare openings are exactly. My mini NT denies a 5 card M, so I don't know if it would fit good enough in your structure...

I also play mini in several partnerships. For me it denies 5 cards in spades only. In one partnership the 9 - 11 denies 4-4 in majors also. 5 still possible...

What 'Nightmare' opening bids?

Nightmare is something like:

1 = 15-17HCP balanced, or 15+ with clubs, or 20+.
1 = diamonds or 18-20HCP balanced
1NT = weak
2 = Precision

Presumably if you were to play a mini-NT in this structure then the point ranges for the balanced types in 1 and 1 would both need to come down a bit. I think there are already a few people around who use this sort of no-trump ladder (distinguishing different strengths by the minor which is opened), but not with a Precision 2 opener.

What 'Nightmare' opening bids?

The " Nightmare" system is played (with great success) by the Italian pair
Lanzarotti & Buratti - sometimes known as "The Cars" :huh:

i'm currently practicing nightmare, with such basic structure over 1c

1d 0+ Hcp, 4+h
1h 0+ Hcp, 4+s
1s 0+ Hcp, no 4card M
1NT 8+ 5+c (can have M)
2c 5+d, 0-4 or 8+Hcp
2d 6+h, 0-4 or 8+Hcp
2h 6+s, 0-4 or 8+Hcp
2s 6+c, 0-4
2NT 6+d, 0-4
3c 6+c, 5-7
3d 6+d, 5-7

abt mini - you could still place weak nt into 1d
