5C.
Double is idiotic. What do you do over xHs?
What is the point of 2C? Why give the opponents a chance to exchange information?
Pass is a bid not even a beginner would suggest.

Not only double but 2/3Sp, 2NT (unusual) - all go to the trash can. It is obvious that the only thing I can bid is clubs. The quesion is - how many? 5C is too committal. Why not 3 or 4C? I too am willing to go 5C when LHO bids 4Sp (and double 5S), but any help from partner will send me where I'd really like to be - in 6C.

5C may even go down, and I'll be in 3 or 4. On the other hand, when I bid the clubs slowly, I'm more likely to play 5C doubled to make :P

I have a partner who should have a say too. I am not weak, so I don't have to close the bidding trying to guess the contract myself. Even 2C is a much better bid than 5C.

3S = stop ask.
Clubs are not so good but if I don't get doubled I give this a shot.

If they double, I run.

agree. I doubt the auction will die here. Let's start from 2C. We may have slam, we may have only 2 or 3C, we may have 3N. Why rush if we know it is going to be a bidding war?

I must say 3NT doesn't come to mind for me... unless pard has club king and spade stop, it is going to be quite the struggle. Of course the club king can be onside (if pd doesn't have it), but it might be hard to get to dummy to finesse.

Hehe, theoretically, yes. But in reality, I doubt you discussed this |XX with pd and it is very likely pd will misunderstand you or he read you correctly but you thought he misread, or you know he read it correctly and but he thought you dont know he read it correctly...

Let's keep it simple and dont test pd:)

2, only because I dislike the alternatives more.

Double is a close 2nd, but the hand is a little awkward and I never seem to be able to convince pard that I have 8 clubs.

3 is possible, but if 3N gets doubles, will I sit?

I'm not bidding 5 with 3 aces Ron, sorry.

5, enough said.

If they try to go 5, you have a chance to double them for a sure defeat now.

I found the options funny, is somebody going to vote for something else than "other" ?
I think 2, pass and dbl are really bad options.
I'm between 5 and 6 because with some luck in dummy this hand is very playable in a slam at least we don't have 2 quick losers and any red suit king can be fantastic.

So I vote 6 -optimistic-

You wont be happy if you find dummy with sth like xxx, xxx,KQTxxx,x. What is the point to rush? If you can make 6C, it is based on a fit, which implies the auction is unlikely to die with 2C.

The hand will likely be passed out in 2C. How are you going to explain +150 to partners who have a score of -600?

After 2C, LHO will raise to 2S or RHO will rebid 2S. You think 2C will be passed all round when they have 8 cards in spade?

Fly it might surprise you to know that some people need values to bid, not just 13 cards. Give opener a slightly above minimum hand and as you have 22 points to the opps 18, and c are likely 3-2, the likelihood of the opps bidding again is very remote.
Anyway if you want to be pedantic, add one extra S and one fewer red card.

I am one of the two who voted for dbl. After dbl, I might compete up to 5, and dbl opp's contract of 5-level or higher unless pd gives me some useful info.
