" hmm, what happens if we swap the ♥9 and ♥8? The rabbit's line seems to work still. Maybe now the only way to make the contract is to discard the ♣A on a spade at trick two?"
very good point David !!! that is now very neat hand with that swap ! roland u should have changed the deal a little

Here is the pretty solution to 11 tricks in 5♦:
♠A, ♠K pitching ♣A!! Spade ruff, club to the king, club ruff, diamond to the king, club ruff.
Heart to West's king. He will now have to give us a ruff by leading a black card. Heart to the ace, club ruff. The 11th trick is ♦J.
It's actually a dummy reversal combined with an endplay. Bridge is amazing

And that is a very serious mistake! You don't let go ♦7, the biggest card in the deck (sic!), unless you have to!
Well done anyway Jimmy, but no cigar! We need to endplay West, so we can't take his ♥K away prematurely.

The end position looks wrong - doesn't west have ♥K ♣QT9x left? The ♥K prevents the endplay on East.

Have a look at the layout again and follow my line above. It's West who gets endplayed to reduce my trump holding (having only black cards left).

Sure, your line works fine (and is very, very pretty), but Jimmy was trying to endplay East into giving us two heart tricks. That fails because West can hang on to the ♥K.

You have arrived in 5♦ after West has shown both black suits (doesn't really matter, since this is a double dummy problem). What matters though is if the contract can be made on best defence.
West leads ♠Q.
Repeated for convenience so that you can see the full layout.

Thanks a lot everyone for your interest in this very cute hand. Sylvain (jjsb) is quite right; it was taken from one of Victor Mollo's fantastic books starring the Rueful Rabbit and his friends.

you're right david, somehow i gave west 5 clubs at the end and not 4 clubs and the ♥K... that king kills my line

You are right Flame, your line works as well. It may not be as spectacular as jettisoning the ♣A like the Rabbit did (by mistake of course!), but you made your contract. And that is what counts at the end of the day.
Well done!
