Hi dear mad scientists and hopeless naturalists :-)

I wanted to remember that this friday, July 11th at 22.00 pm EST (3 am GMT) an adventurous team of scientists will test their satanic weapons agains the "evil forces" of the naturalists lead by Fred Gitelman.

I just wanted to invite you all to kibitz the match and support us.
We'll be playing Moscito (German and Aussie versions) with the amazing comments of The Hog, The Rueful Rabbit, The Gremlin and other interesting criatures.
Alert souvenir cards signed by Paul Marston might be distributed after the match.
Don't forget to buy your scientist "Got alert?" T-shirt.

Our spys in the naturalists camp have told us that the evil naturalists are planning to use the dreaded "11-21 can be 3 card" 1c opening. We don't have a defense against such a destructive wide-ranging preempt but we'll try to prepare one before the match.
The 20-22 2NT preempt is also worth considering, how do we bid game after a preempt that doesn't show any 4 card suit? Is that legal?

If we only scored 1/2 an imp for each alert....

Luis... Execute your spys at once. If the naturalist have 21 hcp and 3 clubs... I bet you anything they WILL NOT open 1C. Your spys must be counter spys....

Actually Luis, I thought the idea was that Paul would sign rhinestone studded jock straps. Also is there any truth in the rumour that Hrothgar and I have been replaced by Pamela Anderson and Carmen Elektra as commentators?

Sorry about the awkward time for the European contingent.
Unfortunately, given the global nature of this event, there was bound to be some time zones that would be inconvenienced.

On the bright side, we will be posting Bridge Movies for the event.
Hopefully, we can get some good analysis for each of the boards.
