This hand came up in a team match and I'm curious which is the best line of play?

Dummy:

T9
653
AKQ65
K93

QJ8432
K8
3
AJ72

South declares 4Sx (doubled by West)

The defence starts with Q of H to the Ace and a H back.
You play a small S to the T and it holds (East discards a H)

Plan your play. (If you play another S, West will let it hold too)

you need two entry back to hand. So I think you should play ST9, then cash DA, and finesse CJ. IF it wins, then no matter what west return, you will make it.

I'd cash the DA DK, play the 2nd spade (assume ducked), ruff a heart, and continue trumps. THis line picks up all cases when lefty is 5=3=3=2 or 5=3=2=3. If lefty has AK765 QJx xx Qxx he is dentist couped.
My name is Winkle.

you must try to score the small and your 5 minor suit winners.
You cannot afford to lose the lead twice as leads will shorten your trumps and W will score a low trump too.
So W needs to have 5-3-3-2, otherwise you cannot make.
cash the 9 (assumed ducked).
ruff with 4
A, K, cash 3 and you still get a trick with your QJ8 of .

i don't know what the best line is, but if west lets both the 9 and 10 of spades hold, i play two top diamonds (tossing a club) then ruff a heart, leaving

now i see that my line is winkle's line lol... i could have saved some time, it seems

I can see 2 lines: either pray for West to have 3-2.
Or try West to have only 3 and East Q.

I think the second 1 is most likelly, so I try to draw trumps reentering with .

I don't see any hope when West has 4, and he cannot have 2 Since East hasn't overcalled 2.
