IMP pairs, both vul, BBO randoms all around. Partner claims expert, if that matters.

Simple question, do you stay put in 5♦x or put partner back in 5♥?

Any other comments welcome also.

I would bid 5H

p didn't bid mike so i think he might be like 1/6/4/2 or something

I agree that hearts should be two cards longer than diamonds, but 6-4 really isn't enough. If he just wanted to show that he had his values for the 4♥ bid and expect the hand to be ours, he should have doubled.

Maybe 6-5 with very good hearts is possible, maybe 7-4 is. 7-5 is typical.

Thanks for replies.

Partner held:

♠ -
♥ QJT8xxx
♦ KT9xx
♣ x

I held the OP hand and passed 5♦x, apparently an error.

Anyway, as you can see, there are three top losers in either 5♥ or 5♦. However, on the normal looking lead from ♠Qxxx, declarer's club can be disposed. Now 5♥ is making, but 5♦ can be beaten with taps. At our table though, the defense did tap once but not the second time, and 5♦x also made. So I got 12 IMPs and a lecture about correcting.
