What do you call an 8card suit?

I criticize east's 2♣. It has no tolerance for ♠, it should merely jump in ♥ which from east's standpoint is most likely game. To cuebid and then bid 5♥ should show a big hand, to be honest I don't think can even have the distribution for this bid to exist by a passed hand.
Sarcasm is a state of mind

The cue is not so bad near max for passed hand - its more the 4♠ bid- better to bid 3♠ as absolutely forcing to game. Then GIB East can bid hearts, West can rebid spades. East should only continue with at least 13 8421 points. This measure 8421points (8 for ace, 3 for king, 2 for queen, 1 for jack) that's already part of GIB bid evaluation is so underutilised.

As if my vote counted for anything, I prefer 2H response to X, and East being a passed hand does not sway me from that.
Having cued 2C, I don't think that I would be bidding 4H over partner's 3S.

I learned bridge in the Dark Ages... I'd bid 4♠ over 1♣ because it's very unlikely that my passed-hand partner can cover 3 of my 4 losers.

Hmm there is just a bit too much slam potential for me to shoot a direct 4S. Having the boss suit adds a slight amount of protection for going slowly I Might do it in a robot tourney, mind
