Over 4♣, 4N would have been RKC for clubs. It should be obvious that 4♠ is an attempt to get to 4N, with the North hand already having limited his spade holding to four cards.

Of course at that point, 4NT would probably have been BW for Spades. As far as I can tell your only chance might have been taking the preference to 4D - no telling what GIB would have done but probably better than 4S. Would be interesting to see how the other humans bid the hand.
Still it's hard to imagine why GIB thought better of passing the known 4-2 than rebidding 5C.

Yeah, I guess I have two complaints about this auction. The first is the decision North made over 4♠, given the description provided for 4♠. However, my other complaint is that I think 3N should deny four spades, and therefore my 4♠ bid should be a "relay" to 4N to play, not showing four spades in the first place.
