West leads AKQ, RHO plays high low showing doubleton. Opponents play standard count (this will be very important later on)

You can try the hand here:

I think theres a bug in the hand. I ruffed the third diamond high, played a club to the 9 and then a spade to the ace. I then tried to play dummy's last club and it won't let me telling me to choose from one of the options provided, only it doesn't provide any options.

edit: though thinking of it, that line is doomed anyway, since RHO can win the king and return the king of hearts.

There may be a bug in the program but the logic behind that LOP looks bug free to me and it
makes no difference what kind of count signals your opps are using:)

Ooops, only option was to play 2 that you already played before.

VGood problem. I had some bugs too but not on the correct line.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I see i have an unavoidable spade loser and at least 1 trump. I am not so very positive but I will ruff with A and lead a trump playing the 10. If that wins I think we are in good shape and it appears to be the best chance. When it wins I play S and run it. Wonder if this worked?

To be honest I got this one wrong Gonzalo. I had a very good record with your problems in your site, but this one got me. For some reason I kept counting my tricks wrong, lol. It took me 3 times to make it. Nice problem btw.

Interesting, I can't get that line to succeed; I made it on a completely different line.

EDIT: Tried again and made the "official" line work. Interesting that the alternative worked too, though it was probably influenced by knowing the defenders' cards.

I am preparing one that took me some minutes just to make it double dummy, I will be surprised anyone makes it although it is certainly possible. This monster has about 100 different endings, and it is not over yet grrr

I don't get it, what is left after mcphee's answer? His line seems logical.

I presume that Mcphee is playing for East to be something like Kxxx KJxx xx KJx, but, as this is the expert forum, East should be giving false count in diamonds with that hand, when West will surely switch to a heart beating the contract. The hand is an open book for East after the three top diamonds are cashed. Still, playing for the misdefence and ruffing high and playing a club looks right. We will have to guess how many spades East has, as we need to extract them before playing the second club, or East can exit with a spade locking us in dummy.
I prefer to give the lawmakers credit for stating things for a reason - barmar

Key play is to pitch a heart on the diamond continuation. All the remaining cards are marked on your right, as LHO has shown 9 HCP.

I made 9 tricks (perhaps w/ defense help... I cannot diagnose that at this time).

You must have received defensive help, a spade switch at trick 4 puts you down instantly, and decent chances of -2 for the defence.

edit: in fact, even better is a heart switch, now it is cold -2 unless East only has 2 hearts.

Indeed; West continues a fourth diamond.

He is not wrong, but needs to execute dentist cup still as East has discarded 4th spade on the third diamond. You gotta trust West's spade count.
