3d

dia suit quality just good enough to convince me to try this. I have already limited
my hand with first x and my unwillingness to x again further limits my power so p will
rarely go wrong in deciding what to do (assuming I have not already created a disaster).

Opps have had an opportunity to reevaluate their hands based on the bidding and have decided
2s was sufficient. That makes this bid more appealing as the major risks of x and opps getting
to 4s now seem to severly mitigated.

If your NV I bet most people would bid 3. Partner probably has a weak NT without 5, 4 and 4 or they may have found a bid.

You have 2 so you have a good chance to have a fit presumably in . If you just meekly pass you can chalk up 2 and you probably lose a part score battle.

You also may luck out and push opp to 3-level possibly down.

Are you sure this is what you meant to write? Because the only way I would even consider something other than pass is if it were Matchpoints and we were NV.

Finding pard with 3 diamonds means he has 3334 or 2335 like 95% of the time, in which case he has a weak NT and we are outgunned.

So pass.

I passed, for all the reasons above. But it reminded me of something Justin said recently about people not treating part score IMP competitions the right way, since a double part-score swing is worth a lot.

Here's the hands:

2 and 3 both make on the nose. Though now that I look at it, west obviously should have opened 1N or Xed.

Yes, definitely. Maybe there is something more to be said for balancing if you were playing a weak NT system.

weak nt is not standard, 1 opener with 4-4 minors is not standard, overbidding twice on the same hand is rarely good.
