MP, best hand south, pro gib 30

This could be as simple as me not knowing Michaels properly.

Over 2S my plan is:
If I just want to play in 3D, bid 3D.
If I want to play in 3D when partner has the red suits, but play in 3H otherwise, then bid 2N ta ask for 2nd suit, and pass 3D or correct 3C to 3H.
Which is what I did, but now GIB thinks I have 9 TP and an active fit.

Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

I agree with your intention on this auction (you could have a 4252 yarb), but I see two things that may or may not be factors here:
  • According to documentation and posts from Barmar, GIB has a very small strength range for Michaels when vulnerable, leaving little need for invitations.
  • Things probably should be different over 2H Michaels than 2S Michaels, since one allows sign-off at the two level and the other doesn't.
