You hold as dealer 3-4-2-4 shape in that order, with 12-13 HCP.

The uncontested auction commences 1C-1S-1N-2D-??

You mouse over 2H and it shows
2-3S; 4H; 2-3D; 4-5C; 12-13 HCP.

Perfect. But before committing, just out of interest, you mouse over 2S, and it shows

3S; 2-4H; 2-3D; 4-5C; 12-13 HCP.

So now, which is it to be: 2H or 2S?

Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Without agreements I would choose 2S. As I was saying to my partner last night, supporting partner's suit is the most important thing to do.

If on the other hand I am sure that partner holding <4H but 5S would then continue with 2S to look for the spade fit, I'd pick 2H.

I think 2s is nonforcing in gibberish so if p has four hearts we might miss game if I bid 2s.
Otho 2s doesn't give unnecessary info to opps if p doesn't have hearts
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Are you sure that 2H is not also non-forcing? It certainly shows a minimum 1N rebid

I guess that my real question is not what you think that you or I SHOULD do, but rather what GIB would do if sitting in that seat. Normally I would rather mimic GIB's system when partnering GIB.. Or more to the point, if departing from GIB such as to mislead opponents, I would rather do so on an informed basis.

And if one of the explanations is incorrect, it should be corrected.

We've had this conversation before, but I can't find it. There should be a clear agreement as to what to bid with 3S and 4H, so either a 2 bid denies 4H or a 2 bid denies 4S. Maybe last time I started this conversation in the General Bridge section, wanting to see what most folks thought was better, independent of the GIB conversation.

Yup, that's what happened: http://www.bridgebas...sponses-to-nmf/

Yes the question posed in that thread is subtly different because there opener had a maximum 1N rebid. But it is still relevant.

Because I wanna to get clear definitions of bids,I would play modified two way stayman by Grant Baze and xyz ,never play nmf, even I know NMF convention is a milestone in the bridge bidding system.

NMF have been out of fashion,it is impossible for players to have a clearer bidding system if go on to play NMF.
