I know we're supposed to put each issue in a separate thread, but these two issues may be intertwined, so I have them together here.

First: I wanted to show an above-minimum opener that wasn't strong enough to jump shift. (Some may think I'm strong enough to j-s, but that's not relevant to the discussion of GIB's understanding of the possible sequences.) Therefore, I refrained from jump-shifting at my first opportunity, then jumped at my next chance. 3♠ was explained as 19-22total. At another table, South opened 1♦ then jumped to 2♠ after 1♥; this was also explained as 19-22total. Shouldn't my sequence be something more like 16-18?

Second: It's my understanding that when I have the higher of my two possible keycard holdings, I am supposed to "correct back", or over-rule partner's attempted sign-off. Am I supposed to refraining from doing that on hands like this, where I've shown a strong hand that really couldn't possibly have no keycards?

ill add two questions?

1) why is south being listed as having 6 spades. surely this only shows 5 spades

2) north doesn't have a keycard and has a pretty min hand why even Keycard? just bid 4♦ and set trump and let the big hand take control

North's keycard really is atrocious. GIB uses blackwood like beginners do, as a slam invite.

There only one thing more annoying than a weak hand bidding keycard and that's one making a general slam try of 5 of a major which GIB also loves to do.
