Pretty boring 1N auction (or longer 1 - 2 (5+ diamonds) - 2 relay auction if you must).

1N - 3 (14-16; Puppet Stayman)
3 - 4

Silent Club:

1-2 strong; diamonds 1 suited
2-3 weak relay; 3352 GF
3-3 QP ask; min (6 or less)
4-4 end relay; forced
4-P signoff

I can see the upgrade to 1; alternative auctions would be 1-2-game try-4, or maybe treating north as a 3 card limit raise to the same effect (1-1N-2-3-4).

I can't pretend, it's just not enough:
1NT-2NT (14-16 ; GF puppet stayman)
3-4 (5 ; great)
pass

1nt - 3nt

If I'm getting a club lead, they are probably either 4-4 or 5-3, so I can easily hold up and establish diamonds. Also opponents tend to lead a major on this auction...

I expect to make 3nt at least as often as 4s makes (for example if spades are 4-1 then 4s will almost always fail). Of course given all four hands both games make.

Pet two-way pass:

pass 1
1NT 2
2 3
4

pass = 0-8 or 15+
1 = nebulous, catch-all for 9-14 hands with no 5 card major, except 12-14 balanced (opens 1NT)
1NT = natural, 15+
2 = staymaniac
2 = 5 carder

Dubbelklubba (Swedish Club) opens 14--16 NT and then uses Puppet Stayman.

Pass 2000

1-1NT; [12--16 unbal or 15--17 bal; 8--11 bal, no 5-card major]
2-2; [transfer; accept]
3NT-4;

1C-1D (H or pts)
1S-2C (could be 3S 15-20, D to play or GF bal or H+D GF)
2D-2H (at least 2D, bal GF)
2S-4S (5S)
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

The South hand looks suspiciously like a normal strong NT to me so I expect Adam's auction to be popular in practise. My system does not allow me to hide the 5 spades so it is going to be hard for North to convert to 3NT when it is right.

1 = 15-17 nat/bal or 18+ any
... - 1 = GF without a 4 card major
2 = 15-17 bal with 5 spades
... - 4
