What mechanisms do you use to find a slam in a minor with 4:4 fit when you've already found a 5(6):3 major fit?

I'm sorry if the question is too vague, I hope you'll provide some examples as well.

Many thanks.

The answer will depend a lot on bidding styles and how an auction has started.

If you are playing 2/1 GF, it is often right, with forcing values, as responder, to start with 2 of a minor. Partner's 1st obligations SHOULD be to raise your minor if he has 4 card support. Your bid is known to be possibly artifical so, if you now rebid his major you have shown that.

The other way is, in a forcing auction that starts out 1M, 2 OM a bid by operner of a minor should promise 4 cards looking for a fit. Again, with 4 pieces more correct to show support and later return to major if slam seems unlikely.

Had this come up last week: p,p 1S (me) p 2c* (Drury) p 3D (slam interest). Partner did not choose to raise diamonds directly, but instead splintered (( wasn't sure if this showed 4 diamonds or was just meant to show me his singleton as a cooperation for slam). Long story short, we played 6 spades off 1, where 6 diamonds is unbeatable... sigh.

The 'double fit' minor slam on the 44 fit is indeed one of the hardest slams to find for 5-card majors systems. It takes a lot of time and trouble to cater for such situations.

Agree with Richard; play a relay system.

This also depends on the level you are at, and on the previous auction. You could also use 2NT as a pivot bid to find out more about shape:
eg
1D 1S
2S

With AKQxx Axx x AJxx
responder could pivot with 2N to find if opener has a 3154 shape and then investigate a C slam.

Its almost impossible to reach 4-4 minor fit after you announced a 5-3 major fit, the best way is when you have slam ideas dont support the 5 card with your 3 before you checked for a 4-4 fit.
for example last weak a good player held a strong 4324 hand, the bidding went
1h-1s
2c-2d(4st)
2h-3c this show club support and is GF+
3d-3h
4H-4nt
5H-6C
They made 6c while 6H go down.
A side point, i was a little surprise to see that both of them knew the ace asking was about club not heart, after thinking about it it was clear to me too.
