I think standard practice is "unusual versus unusual" (same princple with any known two suiter)...

So here...

1-P-1-2NT
  • DBL = desire to double at least one of their possible contracts
  • 3[he[ = competitive, good suit, not a great hand
  • 3 = cocmpetititve, adequate support but not a great hand
  • 3 = strong hand, good heart rebid. Forcing only to 3 however
  • 3 = good spade raise (stronger than 3 immediately, but forcing only to 3
  • 3NT = I guess to play without desire to double them

The sme rules would apply to the 1NT overcall for the 2 level rebids. However, I play 2NT as "great" spade raise, and 3 and 3 as splinter bid spade raise (but not as strong as 2NT). 3NT is all the time here to play.

I would follow Ben's interpretation.

  • Interests:My personal interests are my family and my friends. I am extremely concerned about the lives and futures of the kids (and their families) that I work with. I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

u/u sounds reasonable, but curious to know what people would do over 2NT and 1NT with good hand and 3-card spade support?
"That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!"
