All vulnerable, stratified pairs, pro on left, weak client on right.

1 on left, pass by pard, 2 (NOT inverted) on right. You try 2; 3 by the pro, pass, pass....?

Nice thread, no hand, no description of the hand, but still asking what I'll bid :P :P

As usual, I'll vote for the missing "OTHER" option...

Well if we want to support the Pro's lecture, we bid 3, so he can tell his client what happens if you bid your hand twice.

Pass and let the pro play, they aren't as good as they think, and it is a good chance to demostrate it :-P, double would be nice if it would be taken as penalty :P

FWIW I rarely let them play on auctions like this though

This is a nice study.... it just goes to show what happens at most tables... people bid without really paying attention to what they hold... why just todyay my partner bid... well... I guess I should say, but is clear he never looked at his hand. How is this any different?

3H, clearcut. (this was posted before the hand showed up, having seen the hand I would pass).
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

i'd pass.. you've heard from partner twice... if he was interested in doubling diamonds, he had his chance... he also had a chance to bid 3h...

Darnit; wish I'd post the original hand first.

I really wanted an honest evaluation of the hand, since it was the subject of the first Appeals Committee I've ever sat on.

I would pass when vul. DK is a big warning sign. That being said, over a slow pass of 3D I think bidding would be grossly unethical. Certainly pass is a logical alternative to a bid, and certainly a hesitation over 3D would demonstrably suggest bidding. If the director ruled to roll the contract back to 3D and the offenders appealed, I would assess an appeal without merit warning.
