1D.

You have an easy rebid, you have 12HCP, open the bidding.
Depending on your weak two style, 2D may be ok, but 1D looks normal.

Easiest 1♦ ever. 2♦is a NPAB (New Partner Asking Bid). 2nd seat vul is the worst seat to preempt in and this suit is awful and with 8 HCP outside of it and the hand is a 1♦ opener for many even if the Q♠ were the 2.

If I opened 2♦ LHO overcalls 2♥, all pass for -140ish.

I think he screwed the pooch when he posted the auction (he really opened 1♥?). I'll bet it went 1♦ - 1♠ ; 2♣ - All Pass

In this case of Vulnerability and second seat,I think the opener would better promise two quick tricks ,so I never open this hand , and pass .
