Why would GIB North wish to disturb 2S? End result was OK, but ...
It has already bid Diamonds once
It has maximum Spade length for bidding to date
There is no certainty of a superior Diamond fit. On the contrary it is highly likely that the fit is at best equal and quite likely worse.
It is raising the level of the bidding in order to insist on Diamonds.
It is assured of an 8 card Spade fit
It has a potential ruffing value in the short trumps when playing in Spades (depending on oppo capability to draw trumps in time).
