2S first time round misses out when partner had a hand that would have sat a t/o X of 2D for penalties. Added to which I am not averse to paying in Clubs, which 2S is less likely to find. Added to which 2S cuts out preference to Hearts at the 2 level (bear in mind that partner initially passed 1H and we lack the safety normally available in a reverse bid that responder has at least shown values for a response). So playing with an intelligent F2F partner, on balance I prefer X. But against GIB CHO, 2S may be the more practical solution.
