The winning choice? Open 2D. You push the robots to 4H -2
The losing choice? Open 1D, and after 1S, P, 2H, rebid 3D. You get to 5D -2.
The sensible choice? Open 1D, and pass the next time. The opps play there, for a near 0 IMP result.
The REAL but unavailable choice? Same as above, but when the hand is passed back to GIB with Txxx, Qx, Axx, AQxx it takes some action opposite a partner who opened the bidding!!!

Opening 2D I think has increased strategical merit when combined with the knowledge that no other hand at the table has more than 12 HCP.
