Felt a bit sick in the play. Given the way that it went at trick 1 I should just play Ace and another Spade, and pay off to Kx(x) onside. Some of the others taking the finesse will be in slam anyway, and I can't beat them.
But I was a bit surprised by North's 4N bid. His only control, and second round at that, is in a suit that I have cue bid. He knows that there is a Club off the top, and he has already shown his values with the 3♠ bid. Can 4N be right? You might argue that as slam is about 50% it can't be that bad, but then perhaps South is worth pushing to the 5 level regardless. Don't really know what I was messing about with the 4D for anyway (visions of it inducing a bad lead, but that certainly didn't work).
