3C. Probably someone will find a clever bid,
but it's the only one I can see besides Pass,
which I can't do.

This hand is not very good in the sense of the card quality. But still 3C is a bit underbid. Dbl shows you can dbl one of opp's suit.

I think you should at least try for a game. I will bid 3H. This shows stopper and limit plus raise.

Double, nominally penalty for at least 1 of their suits, followed by 3H over their 3D. Expect to get to 3N if partner has diamonds stopped, and 4C otherwise.

3 = Limit + in clubs. Tempting to double, but colors wrong. I expect 3 from pard and I will try 3N.

I know this is a good hand for the stopper showing bids, but I don't play that.

When 2 suits are known, bidding the lowest means inv+ in the lowest suit they don't have, bidding the highest means inv+ in the highest suit they don't have. Here and are known, so bidding 3 means inv+ in , 3 would mean inv+ in .

3 would show your hand.

Dbl shows penalty in at least 1 of the suits. Imo you have a penalty Dbl for , so Dbl might just work out fine.

Dbl for me!

[EDIT]: this is how I play it :o

Frederick; many play the cue bid shows values for game and a stop in the suit bid. So they'd bid 3 leading to a painless 3N if pard has diamond stopped.

X. Don't see a problem. My hand is very defensive, if pard can crack diamonds they are screwed, and i can crack hearts.

Only problem is the vulnerability and the 5th club.

I'm all with LH2650. I don't double because I want to defend. I double because I expect them to bid 3D, and then I can bid 3H, showing a stoppper.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I bid 3.

3 are passable
3 shows clubs and strong hand.
3 is strong hand with spades.
3 is natural and passable.
(General rule: their suits are used to show strong hand, our suits are passable)

Double would be penalty with at least one of opponent's suit.
We are not able to show a hand with only 4 spades but it's not a good idea to play on 4-4 fit after 5-5 overcall...
Sorry, my english is not perfect :(

Double... You heart QJxx are good for defense, useless on offense, your Qx of diamonds have a chance to be useful on defense, impotent on offense. Your club ACE is a useful defensive card. The good thing about double is if they escape to 3 and partner does not wack that, you can retreat to clubs... and if he does double it, your Q will be working on defense. And if they bid hearts? Yummy.

I think it says THEy are vulnerable, wich makes the double clear IMO, other vulnerabiliy would make me think deeper.

I play that cue when they bid 2 suits shows stopper here, it also does unless they had bid bith minors, then shows and shows .

Oh - misread it. Clear double then.

Hey - the 5th club isn't THAT bad either - makes for a nice tap suit.

Scrumptious!
