There probably exists a method. I just don't know it. If there is a method I should be grateful if someone would let me know. It may involve my renting GIB. I am not averse to that as a solution, but I do not know how I would do it even if I had rented GIB.
The task is that after the event, typically after the conclusion of a robot tourney, I would like to be able to revisit a historical hand, wind forward to a specific point in the bidding or play, and then
(1) if the auction is not yet concluded, research the GIBberish meaning of all possible legal bids available to the hand whose turn it is to bid (normally my hand, South), and
(2) Whether in the auction or the play, research GIB's recommended action for the next hand to act.
I appreciate that, particularly in the play, the result of the second question may be uninformative or suspect, because the recommendation may result from a different number of iterations starting from a different random number seed. Certainly my suggestion is more driven by anticipated situations in the auction.
