Any idea what West was thinking? Maybe he had his hand confused with North's! East's 3♣ bid is not a thing of beauty either.

"I get confused- which hand am I bidding yours or mine"- could be spoken by East or West. The 3 spades is ask for cover as 3♣ is supposed to be strong but it falls right through the network of a termite ridden bridge of "logic".
