In order to be fair to ops during bidding, one should actually click on the Alert button before bidding (bid shows as grey right away). Otherwise, the ops may make a bid before you can click on your own bid to alert.

However, it is vary easy to misclick on the pass button instead of the Alert button, so many players make the bid then click on it to alert with this delay the ops have often made a bid before they know about the alert.
