JEC wants to see some variety----not same players every time-- This team is tough
a worthy challenge for any poster. COME on all give it a shot. How many of these
challenges are left I have no clue. Is it that frustrating to consider playing with an
unfamiliar person for 28 boards (unless u hate almost everything they post).

it's a bit pointless when so few of the top players who are regular bbf'ers participate.

But I don't oppose it. If JEC can find better opps himself he can always call it off.

FYP. It may take a change of management to tempt those players back into trying again; or that ship may have sailed for good. I hope that someone behind the scenes has tried to unruffle feathers and make it possible for our top contributors to volunteer again should they have time in the future.

IMO ship sailed when the BBF vs JEC somehow converted from "Let's bring our best team and beat them" to "No use trying to beat them, better reward our contributors instead".

When was it ever about trying to field the best team? I thought it originated as a fun way to let members of our community have a chance to play against a team of experts.

You see -- when the really strong posters get involved we can all learn something from them. I
personally have not a clue how "c" is germaine here. Please elaborate because I am sure
we can all learn from your vast treasure trove of expertise:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Yes yes we have one win and I was on that team. Since that WIN it has become
increasingly harder to field a team. No idea why us winning a match would have
such a damaging effect. It would be nice to place some more victories in the
archives but even better would be to see some rising form of enthusiasm to
play JEC while we still can. I see them playing a LOT so there appears to be
no shortage of players (outside the forum posters that is) that wish to take
advantage of playing against them. I see some comments here but still no
volunteers to get ground to dust by the JEC juggernaut and that's a shame.

Remember actions speak louder than words:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Management hmmmmm where are those scoundrels hiding any way they get all the money and fame
and leave all the dirty work to me. I was scheduled for charm class next Saturday but I found out the
funds were withdrawn at the last minute. I even volunteered to pay for the class myself but found that
the class time overlaps with the JEC match and I can't let that ship sink just to make myself "prettier"
for everyone. Oh and I have never even considered diplomacy school ackkkk talk about dealing with
a bunch of thin skinned (now see that's why I need charm school). Let's make sure we have plenty
of volunteers for 7/27 so I can attend:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

My partner, guymath, and I are available on the 27th. We played in a match about a month (or so) ago.

Ok what exactly is the idea here? Is it to try to form teams to beat them or is it to field players who would love to try in spite of being clearly outclassed but who have some degree of skill and lots of enthusiasm for the game? I think that the latter might possibly be less fun for JEC but would be a whole lot of fun for those of us who fit that category. IF that was understood to be the case, that is.

I just remembered a newspaper clip of Goren playing with a bunch of sailors..he'd apparently play anywhere with anyone and just have fun. If that's basically the idea then let us KNOW and you'd have lots of volunteers I'm sure.

If the goal is simply to beat them, which is what I understood, then that clearly lets most of us out, as in spite of our best efforts and intentions it's unlikely to happen.

This has been my understanding.

I don't know JEC and can only infer his motivations, but I think that except in big tournaments the game is more important to him than the result, so as long as we make a reasonable showing then it's all good. I don't think JEC has to "maximize fun", so to speak, in every match as long as he's enjoying the game in the long run. Again, that's just my impression.

Does this mean IF we do not have a team and we have individuals that are interested--you would be
willing to play with one of them OR do you have a particular partner in mind???????????????????
