How do you play 2N in this sequence?

(P) P (2M) P
(P) 2N

5/5 ms with less than an opening.

I'd say that
If M is , then 2NT is 5-5m's
If M is , then 2NT shows any 5-5

If only someone could come up with a catchy name for making an unusual NT bid in competition. Who knows, maybe the idea could catch on in other auctions too.

Cute, this type of response reminds why I don't use sarcasm online.

I have seen 2N/2M by a passed hand as 55m, 55any, as yunling suggests and just recently as showing an almost opening hand with stoppers in the M.

I used to think it was natural, but now I think natural is a suicide.

Some people have opening bids for 5-5 in the mninors, others have opening bids for 55m, depends which if any of these you have what 2N means.

a two-suited take-out of the major. If the major is spades, can include hearts. If the major is hearts, then minors.

a bit tame to require 55 imo. 45 minors is especially unproblematical because with equal length p chooses clubs.

I'm with the 55 any camp but I have an extra restriction. I will do this only with
hands that I would not x with because they have too little defense I also admit
that if the M is hearts I would tend to overcall 2s rather than use 2n. Hands like
xx x QJxxx QJTxx or x QJxxx x QJxxxx. With these weaker and very distributional
hands there is a strong probability p is waiting for an x and we cannot afford to
x with such defensive bereft hands.

Being a passed hand it is much easier to use equal level conversion after an x
(if p does not leave it in). xx x Axxxx AJxxx starts with x since the 2 defensive
tricks are great if p wishes to convert to penalty
