3H or 4H?

Your 1H opening shows 10-15 hcps and 5+ hearts. Your 1H-1N, 2S bid shows a maximum with 6+ hearts. Could be good or bad suit.
Imps but vulnerability forgotten.
xxx JT AKxxx Jxx
3H or 4H?
Have a rule of thumb about how many hcps you want for 6-2 major suit fit games?

So far 2 votes for 3H and 1 vote for 4H.
Partner's hand was Kxx AKQxxx x Qxx
Is this hand strong enough to rebid 2S here? Personally I think that after 1H-1N, 2H that a good 11 with doubleton support should invite game. After 1H-1N, 2S (essentially a jump to 3H) shouldn't a good 9 accept game? And this is a good 9.
So maybe opener's hand is too light. Maybe he needs a 7th heart or a 6/5 hand. OTOH, aren't we in danger of missing out on better fitting 9 and 10 point hands? Say AQx xx Kxxxx Jxx?
Still wondering what the rule of thumb is. How many hcps between the two hands is wanted for a 6-2 major suit fit to be in game?

Having created all that extra room with this gadget, it seems odd that you then just have to take a blind punt.
Two alternative options over 2♠:
1. Play 2NT as a forward-going noise, forcing to 3♥. Now it would continue 3♣-3♦-3♥, and you could stop sensibly in 3♥ or bash 3NT (my choice). A bad minor bids it directly.
2. Play 2NT as lebensohl, usually showing a long bad minor. That way you would bid 3♦ direct as at least a game try in hearts with diamond values.
Under either scheme, you can get to decide rationally between 4♥ and 3NT when responder has enough to insist on game. Scheme 1 is my preference, since you don't have the issue of opener deciding whether to complete the lebensohl puppet to 3♣, which can muddy the water.

If this hand is't strong enough, then why do you play this gadget? If you change a small spade, heart or club to the jack of the same suit, you are out of the 11-15 range. "Add a jack and you would have bid stronger previously" certainly satisfies my criterion for a maximum. (Or do you think that ♠A♥AKT98765432♦A♣- is 15 points and 1♥-1NT; 2♠ would show that hand?)

I want my opponents to leave my table with a smile on their face and without matchpoints on their score card - in that order.

I am always bidding 4H here, even at MPs. I can hardly have a better 9 count with AK always worth 2 tricks, the J10 of hearts originally problematic but now worth more than a lone J. My hand has been improved by the auction, and it was a pretty good minimum to start.

Well, for a 6331 hand, at 14 it's almost max. Question is even if it is max, should this hand take us to the 3-level? We play a rebid of 2H is 12-15 (open 2M with 7-11) so I'm thinking it's better to rebid 2H and let responder invite when fitting.
Then 1H-1N, 2S would show a 7-cd suit or maybe a 6-4 with a very good 6-cd suit or something better than what opener had. After all, we need to find those games that are 7-1 fits. Unfortunately this reduces the advantage of rebidding 2S here. Like what is this room for if opener is always correcting to 3H? PhilKing has interesting ideas on this score.

I don't like the 2♠ gadget, but that is probably a comment on my lack of understanding of strong club systems, or other people's optimism. I can't see how this hand is worth anything more than 3♥. Yes, my diamonds are worth 2 tricks, but partner must be anticipating that to warrant a force to the 3 level. The rest of the hand is rubbish.
My rule of thumb is a conservative 26 count when there are no ruffs.
