At the table, I tried 2♣. Part to temporize, and part as a semi-psyche to avoid the lead against 3N. One hand proves nothing, but I knew if I could get past this round, we'd be in great shape. Auction continued:

1♦ - 1♠
2♣ - 2N
3♠ - 4♦
4♠ - 5♣
6♦ - Pass

And I bought:



We were the only ones to reach slam. 3N makes the expected 11 tricks. 4♠ makes on the nose, if you play it right; if you try for 11, I think you lose control (QTxx behind the AKx) with a club lead.

Over 3♦; pard is endplayed into 3♦ I suppose. Same with 3♠, but woe to the Serious 3N players out there on this hand :blink:

I love my pard's 4♦ call. He knows I'm short in hearts, so 5♦ rates to be better than 3N.
