No chance at beating 2D (makes 3 so long as declarer is careful), Even at imps -380 hurts.
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it then how bad a decision could it really be?

South should bid 2.

W has opened a 3rd seat red v green 2, he should have a decent suit as 2x is a very likely resting place. Your singleton K says partner is very unlikely to have a penalty pass, ergo he probably has something weak no trump ish where 2 is likely to play OK and even 3 is probably OK.

South should balance with 2. Bid a five card major unless the alternative is clear (5-4-0-4, for example).

North should not pass 2x. I would bid 2, which also would not work out well, but that is a consequence of the poor balancing double.

Most of the blame goes with South.

If south is going to bid, 2 is correct. Pass is also reasonable. But double is bad.
Life is long and beautiful, if bad things happen, good things will follow.
