First off, do you raise to 5 here? Do you bid 5 along the way, or make a cue-bid?

Secondly, how do you play 4 or 5, at MPs, on this layout and the lead of the A, followed by a spade round to the J? It's now clear that partner's double of 1 was... eccentric, but you're in a contract and you can't always choose them!

even droolers have the right cards once in a while so bid 5d (do not cue bid your hand is based
on distribution not power). Then politely ask p where they hid the hand they showed during the
bidding and hope u get really lucky in the play lho holding say xxxx KQxxx AJ AK and leading
a club to start.

Wow! Support for zero unbid suits??? 4 is even worse than the double and you won't find anyone with experience in an auction like this.

PLEASE tell me your pard didn't bark at you for whatever you chose to do.

Maybe partner mixed 6 hearts into his diamonds.. And I understand his raise: You found his best suit.... :)

Anyway, I had not raised at pairs, and now I try cross ruff lines till something interessting happens.
Kind Regards

Roland

What's the problem? He has tolerance for Diamonds and hit the jackpot when we bid them...

She's a beginner, and as she put down dummy she said "I know I shouldn't have doubled but I didn't know what to do" - so there's hope there, at any rate.

(For what it's worth, I played a crossruff-type line, and diamonds broke, so I made +150 for a second top. Top was +300 for 2-3 the other way, because some numpty decided that raising a 4-card major on a 2-card suit was good bridge)
