IPad vs. Windows

I have been playing robots on my iPad.

If I play humans and use my iPad, is it possible that My opponents could be on Windows, or are these 2 operating systems kept separate?

The humans you play against can be using any interface: the old Windows app, the new web app, or the newest mobile app.
