I don't see anything wrong with passing 12 HCP 4-3-3-3 junk with only 1.5 quick tricks despite the nice honor combinations and the 10's and 9's. To me, it's a marginal opener. Once partner opens in fourth seat and rebids 1NT, the hand becomes huge. All its spoungy, slow trick taking virtues are accentuated in NT, and partner figures to have the majority of the missing aces and kings. Bid one spade in case partner is distributional, then bid the obvious game. With a good declarer, you likely want to be in game with 24 HCP in the combined hands.
