No wonder the Republican party seems so lost - here is a list of speakers invited to CPAC, courtesy Huffington Post:

Sarah Palin, who appeared at CPAC last year, was welcomed back to CPAC by American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas in mid-February. The former governor of Alaska joins a list of fellow speakers that includes Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre.


I agree with James Carville - this is great news for the Democratic party. :P

Sure, but sad for the US. I'd much prefer being able to choose between two responsible candidates. It's not impossible for completely hopeless candidates to be elected.

My own district exemplifies that right now. Our district's borders were changed to include more republican voters and fewer democrats. Super PACs poured in an amazing amount of money (I've never seen anything like it before) to build up the tea party candidate and smear his opponent. It took a couple of days after the election until the result was clear, but the tea party guy won...

:P Well, I don't see any libertarians or anti-abortionists on the program. At least there is Rubio who might have a clue as to how to get some Hispanic votes. There will be lots of talk but no decisions made at this conference.

How to expand the Republican vote? Hispanic friendly immigration reform? Support a state and local option for legalizing pot? Downplay the anti-abortionists in order to appeal to women? Pray and hope something good happens for their side in the next three years.

Rubio is a Cuban with very little crossover appeal to broader Hispanic audiences.

As I see it, the scenario is following the churches - keep preaching to the same people with the same message and eventually the pews empty out.
