West has a strong hand, but some prefer to bid their suit first and show strength later. Knowing that 1NT shows a strong hand with fit, I don't see much wrong with West's bidding, although I can understand that some prefer to start with Dbl instead of 1

Anyway, I'd blast to 5
♣. You know they're going to bid at least 4
♠ and make it, so take some as much space away as possible and put up the pressure. I'd expect to go 2 off in 5
♣, so it's worth the shot. And if we're 3 off, it's not as bad as in MP. Let them make a mistake if there is one. The history of the hand shows that in fact they did made a mistake.
