1 could have clubs longer than diamonds if 12-14.
If you would have bid 1 on your first round, mentally replace you club holding by xx.

I would have responded 1 even with xx in clubs. Now I would try 2NT, which should be some kind of takeout.

With the real hand, I would not been here. With the second one (xx in clubs) I would try 2 NT too.

i would have bid 1h on the first round, 3h on the second round if i forgot to bid on the first round, now being a trifle screwed by my earlier foolishness i bid 3H - no need to suggest diamonds when we have 5 hearts.

Hi,

1H the round before is clear, with xx in clubs it is a matter of taste,
but you do have an Ace and a 5 card suit.

Due to the fact that I did not do it, partner may have passed with 15+, and 5431,
for me ... 3H would imply 6 hearts, bidding 2NT would imply 54.

This means I will pass, partner is still alive, with 5431 and 15+ he can reopen.

With kind regards

Opposite your p 17 max you are thining it is the "safe"
thing to pass 1d since game chances are low and, unlike
IMPS, there is no stong need to push for games. The problem
is in BAM if your side ends up in 1d there is a strong chance
you will end up losing the board since you are playing in the
lowest scoring denomination.

There seems to be little reason to avoid bidding 1h the first round
even with xxx xxxxx Axx xx. (wank) points out that even if you pass
the first round p heard the pass and has made a TOX of 1s. You have
an over maximum xxx xxxxx Axx Qx with 100% of you hcp "working"
you should take this opportunity to tell you p about your hand and a
mere 2h might be as poor as xxx xxxx xx xxxx.

Note the huge difference between bidding 1h the first time and passing.
When I respond 1H my hand is at the minimum of my range but
when I pass my hand is at the top and how we bid changes.

If I had passed originally my hand has become so "good" I would bid 2s
and convert either a 3c or a 3d bid to 3h. I do not think a 3h bid is right
here mainly because our heat suit is especially putrid (great for poker)
and by bidding 2s first then 3h we tell p of our ability to play elsewhere.
A 3h bid here might be something like xxx KJTxx xx xxx.

I see that everybody (more or less) is bidding 1 immediately, even with xx. gszes understood my partner (I was opener), who thought that game was unlikely -- actually it is close to impossible to reach game even if it is there, as I (opener) will at most jump to 3 (or reverse, etc), being limited to 17, and responder will just signoff. I thought that a more interesting(?) idea would be to raise directly to 2 (NOT inverted in our methods), on the grounds that if we have a heart fit then the opps are likely to have a fit in either black suit and it will be easy for them to find it (e.g. by a balancing X after 1-1-2) whereas directly raising to 2 would make it slightly harder for them to enter the auction (each opponent is less likely to hold both majors than both blak suits, and we also remove half a round of bidding from them). Of course we will lose when the winning spot is 1N, but what do you think?
Now as the auction went, I think the problem of 3 is that opener will have to ruff spades with high hearts, thus creating trump losers, so I thought responder should at least propose 3 on the way to 3. As it happens, opener held KAKTKxxxxKxxx and 3 was indeed the winning contract (lose one in each suit in 3, but another trump in 3).
