I was in an Individual tournament this evening and happened to meet the tournaments director in my first board (I think). It happened to be as I was going to lead in my pards suit, and he played his Q (when dummy played K), he asked for an undo which was rejected by the tournament-director. OK, I applauded sarcasticly he made his contract on a misclick, but was after this rejected from the tournament. I'm sure there is logs from the conversations, and I cannot understand why my objects should exclude me from the tournament. Anyhow, I would like to know the power of a tournaments director. Is there a way we have to treat the playing director in an other way than other players ? I have no hesitations to tell the director was XXXXX, which I'm probably banned from playing with in the future.

Hi Asa,

The correct way to complain about an individual TD who is abusive (or who you think is abusive), is to write to ABUSE@you know where (bridgebase.com). It is perfectly fair to complain about an action (as your post does now, after editing) in the public forum. You will get a reasonable amount of support for your position.

Now, let me answer your questions.

TD run their tournments. They are the property of the TD in charge, and as such the BBO administrators allow them a lot of lattitude in how they run their events. They can decide who can and can't play. They can decide what conventions to play, when to hold the event, what conventions can and can't play, etc. Abusive TD's lose their rights to run tourneyments, but deciding who can play and can't play is generally not considered an abuse by a TD.

As far as the misclick and ask for an undo. If you read the rules of the site, if someone ask for an undo and it is not allowed, that is the end of iit. So your remarks (complaints) would be considered a very mild violation of the site rules. I only point this out to remind all about the rules.

As I'm constantly reminding folks, undos are totally optional. I keep them in because I want people to have that option but quite honestly sometime I think there'd be less hurt feelings if I just didn't allow them.

What happened with you is like some many other undos (with the exception that the TD was involved) and people always feel in their rights on both sides of it, which is why it causes hurt feelings.

I certainly would never ban a player from my tourney for that, unless I was having a bad hair day.

One good thing about BBO is with several thousand people on-line, you can come to the conclusion that 95% of them are jerks if you want - and still have no trouble finding a game.

My question is "are undos allow in this tournament?" If undos are not allow then point is moot.

If you are openly rude to td then I can understand him/her removing you. After all it is td who is providing tournament for you and trust me it is often very thankless job.

I might be in the minority opinion, but it sounds like the TD was somewhat out of line.
Players have no obligation to accept an undo. As a TD, I expect people to accept them when they're valid, but I will not force their hand. Having said that, I do not feel that a single sarcastic remark aimed at an opponent for not accepting an Undo is grounds for removing a player from the tournament, unless the tournament was specifically listed as "zero tolerance for rude behavior" or something to that effect. This is the same as saying "You were lucky to make even though you misplayed" - it is rude, yes, but not to a degree that requires expulsion.
If the remark in question had used foul language, implied cheating, or anything similar, I do feel that an immediate removal from the tournament was in place - but I also feel that it is a director's obligation to inform the player of why they were removed, in all situations.

I think this was the main reason for the TD to boot you from his tourney , the undo thing has nothing to do with this
You are not allowed to treat your partner , opponent and the TD in any sarcastic way ... so better to take care of your comments on the table and do not blame the TD .. I think he had the right
