Finally a play problem. Matchpoints, against middling-good opponents, playing standard carding.

What's your line from here?

Tbh, it's obvious how you can make the rest and obvious how you can safety play it. Up to you at the table how much you trust clubs to be breaking. I can't tell that sitting here knowing that your opponents are middling-good. My instinct would just to be assume they'd messed up but obviously could be right to safety play it. I mean maybe RHO has a stiff trump so doesn't even consider that you are running the rest, so I guess I would do what Fluffy did.

Not obvious to me at all. How do you play it safely ?
It's hard to believe RHO wouldp lay low without Jxxx of clubs but if I finesse clubs now he will give LHO a ruff and if I draw trumps first I will concede diamond and two hearts.
I mean I would probably go for a safety play here if I saw one available.

Ok, I see it. You can play for a strip squeeze vs E as he has to discard his last diamond on our last trump if he in fact has Jxxx of clubs and AJx of heart. I think I play for that vs decent players.

Sorry bluecalm, I was being an idiot. Ignore my easy safety play claims...I feel like Fermat

But what you say makes sense

You could cash K then play on clubs, which will be necessary if West has something like Qxx T98x AKJxx x. So you would be relying on him not overcalling on that, as well as East always taking the A when they don't have Jxxx of clubs. I would want to be at the table for this kind of decision.

I chose Fluffy's line, wound up down 1 after the inevitable 1-4 club split. Nigel's line would have worked.
