Maybe if the description of 3N was "2-5C; 2-3D; 2H; 2-5S; 15-17HCP", instead of allowing for the possibility that I'm hiding a red 5-card suit, GIB would let me play the game I bid after hearing a full description of his hand...

Yes, it does this over and over ... over bidding I'd say. Thanks for telling them.

Again, after North has reasonably described his hand in his first two bids, and South has attempted to place the contract, that should be the end of it. I still wonder whether the description of 3N including "5- H" contributes to this problem when it should be clear that I don't have 5 (or even 4) hearts.

Not 100% sure how new minor forcing works, but avoiding this problem could be as simple as giving it a chance to bid its hearts below the four level and officially rejecting them, making the robot relieved to have been able to bid all of its hand. Sort of the same way you bid RKCB when you don't really care about the response rather than jumping to slam, to prevent the robot from bidding on to the seven level.

NMF applies after a NT rebid by opener. Bidding diamonds (as some Souths did) is natural, and risks being raised if North's red suits were reversed.
