Currently tables show: Matchpoint/IMP, round x of y, and decreasing round clock.

That's a lot of information to squeeze into that box. You can get "hand x of y" by looking at the My Results column on the right (or opening the Movie window in the old version). The tourney name is in the web page title, which is probably a good replacement for the first few characters of the description.
I would expect most players to know what kind of tourney they entered, although if someone signs up as a sub for multiple tournaments (is that allowed?) they might not be sure which one this is.
