2NT is 20-21 ; we allow a 5-cd major (almost always 5332), a 7-cd minor (7222), a singleton minor, or a stiff major A or K.

Our methods here :
  • 3 is regular Stayman. Opener will bid his 4/5-cd major if he has one, 3 with none, and 3NT with both. (we can retransfer thereafter).
    Over 3, a 3M bid will show 4M+5M' (asking opener a 3-cd fit in M').
  • 3 is a GF transfer for . If opener has 1/2 he will bid 3NT, with a fit he will complete the transfer or super-accept by showing a control.

I don't claim that our methods are pretty good, actually I would love to run simulations for these kinds of hands, since yarboroughs are the main weakness of this system.
Anyway, in this situation, what would you do ? What if it begins 2 - 2 - 2NT ? (22-23)
Tired of red/black ♠♥♦♣.
For 4 suits, why not 4 colors ?

Using normal methods, I would transfer to hearts and pass.

Given your methods, I would pass 2NT. Seems like the best chance of minimizing the damage. Any bid over 2NT could result in a worse result unless you get very lucky.

I play methods similar as you and it works out much better to play 2N as 22-23.

You are overloading your 2NT bid and have a BIG hole in your responding structure. Dump this one and replace it with a new one, especially in MP events where partscores are important!

your choices seem to be pass (an ugly concept) or bid and get lucky or get to game-

I will choose to try and get lucky use stayman and if it does not work tranfer p to hearts
this will make it seem like i am 64 and the opps will have no clue how weak i really am

the last thing you want to do is appear to be scrambling and give the opps a reason to start
xing if p does not have a 4/5 card major. If p has both the 9 card fit will probably keep the
xers in line.
