No, he's never liked 5 over 5 (he probably doesn't bid it enough (maybe would admit to this)) and he's always had lighter 2 level overcalls.

Wasn't here for either of this posts first two lives so I wasn't in on the joke even though there were a bunch of strange posters. Anyway I was shocked to see people passing with this hand... I'm glad it's basically just a dream now

I dislike bad suit overcalls and this suit makes me shudder but the other side of the coin is a now or never situation. I would bid 1H based mostly on this being my only opportunity. Yes a H lead may not be great, but better than a S if they play 3N. I do consider this close.

Using no space suggests I am the big dog in this auction. Nope 1H.
Jump 2H suggests I'm a yapping dog - no other suit interest. Yup 2H. Persuaded only because of S-short.

Sorry. I need a better reason to overcall in a suit that I don't want led.

No overcall for me.

This is the kind of thread we need more of. Basic stylistic judgment calls.

1 seems normal to me, in 2004 or 2010.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Was that 2004? Lots has changed. Still overcall 1H of course.

2010 jlall is less agressive than 2009 in spots like these, I'd guess it's like 2009>2007>2010>2004.

I still pass, despite having read the forum for a long time. Not particularly close.
