sometimes it is the opps hand---at these colors you are inviting a full
blown disaster while trying to avoid -110. At MP thats no biggie since
you were probably due a poor score at 2s in any case but IMPS is
a different garanimal. Try very hard to have something akin to perfect
distribution or at least good suit intermediates (you have neither).
IMPS is a ton more risk vs reward oriented than MP your teammates
might no like -110 but they would really hate -1100:))))

Pass, this hand as all the warning signs (KJxx of clubs with clubs bid on your left, only 3 hearts which is partners most likely suit, stiff spade honor which is better for defense). If partner bids 3H and they crack you it is just lights out. Even if they don't maybe you will escape for -300. No thanks, I would not even balance at MP. Partner also could not even bid over 1C, it it is not like you might buy a 6 card heart suit or something awesome.

You have got to be kidding me. This hand should be posted in the beginners' forum, this is such an obvious pass.

There's nothing wrong with having some cold feet at unfavorable vulnerability in IMPs. A clear pass.
If you impose yourself into this auction, most of the things that can happen to you are bad.
Looking at a stiff ♠, partner is likely to hold some spades -- 4 if the 1 ♠ bid was made on 4 of them. So 2 ♠ may not be exactly a pianola.

After a 1♣ start, our overcalling style is such that we just don't belong in this auction when pard failed to come in.

Partner held:
♠Axx
♥xxx
♦JTxxx
♣Ax
They have 8 tricks in spades, we have 9 in diamonds. I passed, but I wanted to check how bad it was with the spade singleton.

You have a clear 3♦ call. I would play partner for as little as:
♠Axx
♥xxx
♦JTxxx
♣Ax
♠Axx
♥xxx
♦JTxxx
♣Ax
