Used after suit opening:
2NT-two lowest unbid suits
3♣-highest and lowest unbid suits
3♦-two highest unbid suits

Pd then places contract or overbid opening suit asking for strength:
Response:
1 step-more than 5 losers
2 steps-5 losers
3 steps-less than 5 losers

Convention was developed by John Trelde sometime in the 60's
