The situation:

You are enjoying a nice game of bridge in the Main Bridge Club with your favorite partner Jo. You click the "tournament" tab and see this cool tournament starting in 45 minutes. The problem is, numbers are limited and it rates to sell out fast. Therefore, in order to sign up for it, you have to interrupt your game, click "back" a few times, go to the tourney area, sign up, click "back" a few more times and sit down at the table again.

The ability to sign up for a tournament whilst playing would be sweetness.

Another nice thing might be for a TD to set a standard ad for a Tourney...

Tourney: #123 "Tourney title" starting in x minutes

And for this to automatically happen at 10 minutes and 5 minutes and 1 minute. the reason I suggest this is that there is a lot of spam by some TDs about their Tourneys starting in 8 minutes, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 which floods the lobby.

I don't like the idea of making it too easy for players to sign up for tournament while playing at table. As it is, many players play a few boards, then suddenly in the middle of a bad contract, "Hi: I have left this table to play in a tournament, good bye"

they shouldn't do that... when the tourney starts, they're swept away automatically and a message comes up explaining why

Many players sign up for a tournament, and come play at a table to pass the time.... and leave suddenly anyway.... I find it silly if it's half a board :)
So why not make it easier for a player to sign up from main bridge club?
It's a lovely idea IMO

Could the #of free places in the tournament be displayed in the main tourney list or in the special "hint", like in the matches in play?

The second suggestion: could you add any filter to the tournaments, like "show full tables" in the main bridge club?

You can also be swept away into a team-game.

Perhaps the software could be modified so you would not be able to start a hand in the main bridge club when you are signed up for a tourney that is less than 8 minutes time.
